Why you should adopt LED Light Therapy into your Skin Regime

LED is a hot topic in the beauty scene at the moment for so many wonderful reasons it’s almost impossible to decide where to begin! The truth of the matter is, not every skin treatment out there (such as microdermabrasion, skin-needling etc) is suitable for every skin condition, the one exception to this rule is LED light therapy.

What is LED light therapy?

LED or light emitting diode is a very effective and non-invasive skin treatment that is used to treat various skin conditions on different parts of the body, not just the face. The unique point of difference for LED over other treatments is that it uses just the healing power of light which you sit under and enjoy for 9 - 20 minutes at a time depending on the intensity and wavelength required.

So how does LED light therapy work exactly, and how do I know which light is for me?

LED works on a cellular level to stimulate collagen, reduce inflammation and fights acne bacteria making it a quick skin rejuvenation treatment without any down time. Here at St. Skin we use Healite II, which has 3 wavelengths; blue 415 nm, red 633 nm and 830 infrared. Each light has different features to improve skin conditions such as rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis, and acne.

The Red light is miraculous for stimulating collagen and elastin as well as increasing the rate of cellular renewal within the skin. This also helps to increase the blood flow giving the skin an instant glow as it increase the hydration level within the skin.

Blue light is used to treat Acne. The 415 nm is specific to inhibit acne bacteria and therefore reducing the number of acneic lesions.

The Infrared with 590 which is called 830 light, is great to increase blood and lymphatic flow, treat acne, reduces pain, increase wound healing, reduces inflammation of the muscle and joints as well as providing skin rejuvenation.

Depending on your skin condition, we tend to recommend a course of LED which includes 2 sessions per week for 5 weeks. During the treatment plan we usually use different lights to treat and deliver cellular changes to the skin and in most cases, our clients notice a difference within 2 weeks.

Our client’s absolutely enjoy having LED because of its warm feeling - some even describing that it feels like being in the sunshine without the UV damage. It’s a popular treatment to have at lunchtime, in the lead up to a wedding or to treat a pesky skin condition that won’t budge.

If you’re interested in beginning a course of LED, we’re currently offering a ‘Buy 3, get 1 free’ pack available until December 31, 2018. Click here to purchase the offer.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in the clinic soon!
