Revising Your Dermal Care Plan for the Cooler Months

As the cooler months approach, it's the perfect time to revise your treatment plan to ensure your skin journey is on track!
Today we will explore some of our favourite treatments and products for winter, as well as tips and tricks for caring for your skin at-home.

Consider more intense treatments

Winter is the perfect time to undergo more intense treatments that may require downtime or avoidance of sun exposure.

One of our most popular treatments is Venus Viva, which utilises NanoFractional Radio Frequency technology, precisely heating the dermis which creates an injury in the skin. The body’s healing response is then stimulated to generate more collagen, promoting rejuvenation. The treatment intensity can be customised depending on your downtime availability and how quickly you are looking to achieve results.

For those dealing with pigmentation, the Cosmelan peel can be an excellent option. It involves a multi-step process that includes a peel followed by a home care regimen. The treatment requires a few days of downtime but can be a great way to reduce pigmentation in a single treatment.

Infini RF is another option that combines radiofrequency and microneedling to improve skin texture, acne scarring, and fine lines. Infini RF is a unique technology that allows greater control of the skin rejuvenation procedure. It offers various treatment depths and energy levels to enable a multi-layered approach for customised treatments, regardless of skin type or tone.

It is indicated for the treatment of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring (including surgical and trauma scars), hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), ageing, sagging skin and wrinkles and laxity. Downtime can vary but redness and flaking usually subside within a few days

Incorporate more nourishing skincare products

Winter can be harsh on the skin, with the cold and dry air causing dehydration and dullness. Incorporating more nourishing skincare products can help combat these effects. Look for products with Beta-Glucan, Vitamin E (Tocopherol) or Sunflower Oil which help to strengthen the skin's barrier and improve moisture retention.

If you’ve opted for a lightweight moisturiser over the summer, now can be a good time to choose a more nourishing option. Try the Osmosis Hydrate, or mix a few drops of Nourish Avocado Oil into your current moisturiser. We also love Immerse Oil for impaired skin.

Add internal supplements to your wellness routine

Internal supplements can be a great addition to your wellness routine, as they can help to support the health of your skin from the inside out. Essential fatty acids, such as fish or flaxseed, can help reduce inflammation and improve skin hydration. We recommend all clients take DMK EFA Ultra daily to support skin health.

For those who are looking for a plant-based or more intensive alternative, you can’t go past Osmosis Recovery. This product helps to counteract lost volume while nutraceutical properties can help restore your unique probiotic population and provide essential fatty acids like omega-7, which support cellular function and overall health.

Additionally, vitamin D supplements can be helpful during the winter months when sunlight exposure is limited. The Propiara Propaira Vitamin D 1000 IU is our pick as it is free from gluten, dairy and sugar and is vegan-friendly.

Practise good skincare habits

In addition to undergoing more intense treatments and incorporating nourishing skincare products and internal supplements, it's essential to practise good skincare habits. This includes wearing sunscreen daily, even during the winter months when sun exposure may be limited.

It's also important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Often we can feel less thirsty, but artificial heating can dehydrate the skin and body quickly.

Lastly, make the most of the shorter days and prioritise sleep! Poor sleep can cause dark circles, dull skin, and fine lines. It can also lead to increased cortisol levels, causing inflammation and accelerated ageing in the skin. Aim for 8 hours per night!
